Assistant Producer - Playdemic

If you want to create games for millions of players to enjoy on the go, then this is the job you’ve been looking for. Playdemic are seeking to recruit an Assistant Producer to work with the Game Producer delivering world leading, mass market, top 20 games. Working with a talented team of developers, designers and artists your job will be to help develop great game ideas into new releases.

Reporting to the Game Producer you will be responsible for the supporting all aspects of game development, to launch one of Playdemic’s new games. You will have experience of game development and organising a development team of 15 or more people to help produce outstanding player experiences.

We want you to support and drive the implementation of new features and functions that make the game more profitable, viral and most importantly fun! You will proactively learn the business intelligence tools, in order to help apply metrics-driven development based on actual user behaviour.

You’ll be one step ahead – maintaining workflow, managing JIRA issues and helping to ensure releases and launches run smoothly. This role is all about communication, and your input into the smooth running of the studio will be vital.

Core Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in a Game Development studio

Principle Multiplayer Designer

As a Principle Multiplayer Designer at TT Games, you will take responsibility for producing game design documents and communicating those designs to the team. You will be involved in every aspect of the design and production process. 

This is a very hands-on role where you’ll be editing scripts and setting variables to decide and iterate on the behaviours of game objects.  You will need to distil the vision of the Game Director, the feedback from the team, feedback from players in users tests and the live service and any analytics data down into meaningful changes to the numbers beneath the hood of the game. 

You will be an experienced and passionate individual who takes your career in game design seriously, and are regarded as one of the best in your field. You’re ambitious to see your designs played and enjoyed by millions of people. You will need to be extremely creative, but also able to apply logic and analytical thought to the medium. With a deep understanding of game mechanics you’ll be adept at using creating, refining and testing the underlying core gameplay systems. A self-starter, you will be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Working on optimising monetisation mechanics and driving membership conversion.
  • Reviewing key performance indicators and trends of their online games.
  • Planning and executing live events, sales and promotional offers.
  • Analysing monetisation strategies of competitive games.

Data Scientist - TT Odyssey - Brighton

We are looking for a talented data scientist with a passion for mobile games and cutting edge analytics, to join our fast-paced studio in Brighton.

The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to join us on our mission to create innovative, mobile games, which engage and delight our players.

You will sit at the forefront of our analytics team, working in collaboration with our games teams, to bring positive changes to our games through data. You'll have high levels of autonomy to give you the freedom to dig into the data and use your findings to dictate and direct your own projects. We really don't have much in the way of red tape, so expect to start making a positive impact on our games, right from the get-go.

Day-to-day, you'll:

  • Analyse player data to proactively identify and prioritise new opportunities and optimisations.
  • Be the champion of these ideas and collaborate with experts from different teams in order to make them happen.
  • Design multi-variant tests to prove, tune and measure your hypotheses.
  • Use your expert skills to perform complex analysis of player data.

Junior Network Programmer

We are looking for a Junior Network Programmer to join our Game Technology team. The Game Technology team is part of the Engine Room Department, and is responsible for creating and maintaining the nuts and bolts that glue our award winning games together.  This is a permanent position based at our studio in Wilmslow.

You will be working with every platform conceivable, from hand-held devices, through desktop computers to consoles both current and next generation. Because of this, you will be using a wide variety of development environments and programming languages and tackling technical challenges of every sort. No day will be the same, and you won't be bored!

During your day you will be working with all the internal development departments in TT Games: the game programmers, the low level renderer programmers, the artists and designers who produce the amazing content that makes our games alive, the production team who manage the process and the publishers who get our games out to the public. Finally, but not least, you will liaise with the platform holders to resolve technical challenges and overcome any submission problems that come with the fast pace of the console and hand held market.

You will be expected to get involved with all aspects of the TT Games code base to ensure each programming department works effectively together. For that reason, you will need to have experience with working with large code bases and be able to understand other people's code quickly. Particular areas of expertise would be helpful in tools, networking and online, and resource management.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A keen interest in online games and the technology and architecture behind them.
  • A good degree in Computer Science, Math or Physics or related subject (2.i or above) or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in C++ and object oriented programming
  • A structured approach to programming with the desire to write clean, well commented, documented and maintainable code.

Technical Artist

VFX Artist - FTC

We're seeking a talented and enthusiastic VFX Artist to join our art team in Knutsford on a fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a highly successful and creative team supporting the development of multiple AAA titles across a wide range of platforms.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conceptualising and creating a wide range of visual effects for the game, compliant with game design and vision.
  • Creation of high quality game and cutscene specific VFX using in-house editor and packages provided (Maya and Photoshop).
  • Liaise with Construction Artists & Code with regards to placing and triggering gameplay-specific VFX.
  • Feedback any risks or concerns of game designs impacting the schedule.
  • Work with VFX Lead and Art Director to ensure consistency between vision and implementation of effects.
  • Working closely with other departments on effects heavy levels to balance frame-rate.
  • Ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions for all platforms required.
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline.
  • Responsible to plan and prioritise assigned workload within given deadline.
  • Attending meetings to note the VFX requirements in conjunction with Level Director.
  • Help to mentor other VFX artists.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good demonstration of VFX work through Portfolio or Art Test.

Associate Lead Tools Programmer

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop software for other departments.
  • Maintain and develop automatic test suites for checking the quality of released tool chains.
  • Develop release and distribution mechanisms allowing Art and Design Leads the control they want for handling the distribution of new tools technology.
  • Assist with general game system code and server tool support.
  • Minimise platform specific or special case code.
  • Maximise re-use of code.
  • Ensure that code is designed and written to be robust and stable with minimal bugs
  • Ensure that code builds and any problems are resolved prior to committing.

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Strong C/C++ skills.
  • Experience of iOS or Android C++ development.
  • Knowledge of iOS development tools and SDKs, or Android NDK/SDK.
  • Experience of one or more graphics API (e.g Metal, OpenGL/GLES, DirectX, Vulkan).
  • Experience of either Windows or Mac OSX development environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent professional experience.

UI Artist

We are looking for a talented UI Artist to join our TT Fusion team in Wilmslow on a full time, permanent basis.

We are looking for self-motivated applicants, who are responsive to direction and working to a brief. The ability to plan and schedule your time, and the confidence to deliver to a deadline is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating game UI compliant with the game design, both technically and aesthetically.
  • Designing, creating and exporting 2D textures/icons using packages provided.
  • Creating, animating and exporting working interface files for use in game.
  • Where necessary, creating 3D assets using packages provided.
  • Designing with and exporting fonts for use in game, for multiple languages.
  • Where necessary, liaising with environment artists to create bespoke in-game textures, such as shop logos or posters.
  • Occasionally required to be involved in additional company-based commissions, for both internal and external use, e.g. promotional material such as posters or in house T-Shirts.
  • Where necessary, liaising with Publishing to ensuring that any bespoke artwork (such as logos and posters) or in-game fonts have been checked for legal clearance and licencing.
  • Ensuring any texture assets created are future proofed for higher res platforms.
  • Understand that you may be required to simultaneously work on multiple projects on multiple platforms.
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline.
  • Constructively feedback any concerns of UI design.
  • Work with Art Leads and other Artists to ensure consistency between vision and implementation of interface designs.
  • Contributing original ideas towards all aspects of the UI design.
  • Undertake relevant on-the-job training where required and keep up-to-date with industry advancements and technologies.

Skills & Qualifications:

Senior Simulation Programmer

We're seeking a talented and enthusiastic senior programmer to join our Simulation team, who research and develop the novel and cross platform Physics, A.I., Vehicle, I.K and Animation technologies that will power the next wave of TT adventures. This role offers a rare and exciting opportunity to work on a variety of system while also focusing on a particular discipline of interest.

We are ideally looking for a senior-level programmer, however we will consider applications from strong programmers and this will be a permanent position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the vehicle, script, physics, AI and character animation systems.
  • Maintain and develop the editor integration and Maya exporters for these systems.
  • Quickly fix any crash bugs for the above systems.
  • Provide technical support to other programming, art and animation teams.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems within your areas of expertise.
  • Minimise platform specific or special case code.
  • Maximise re-use of code.
  • Ensure that code is designed and written to be robust and stable with minimal bugs.
  • Ensure that code builds and any problems are resolved prior to committing.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of tools-related technologies.
  • Identify poorly coded / implemented systems and restructure existing code to make it more efficient.
  • Debugging difficult problems.
  • Support Lead Programmer in supplying cover where required.
  • Assume responsibility for systems and be able to resolve problems when required.
  • Identify deficiencies across systems maintained by the team.
  • Assist Lead Programmer in designing architecture.
  • Undertake relevant on-the-job training where required and keep up to date with industry advancements and technologies
  • Provide coaching to Programmers and Junior Programmer where appropriate and with direction from the Lead Programmer.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A good degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or related subject.
  • Demonstrably fluent in Object Oriented  C++ with strong debugging and documentation skills.
  • A passion for games and solving the technical problems they present.
  • Strong maths skills (linear algebra, trigonometry, 3d geometry, quaternions).
  • A highly motivated team-player with the ability to dive in, understand code and learn quickly.
  • Knowledge and experience with either Vehicle simulation/ Physics engines / AI algorithms and middleware / Procedural Animation or IK systems.
