Games - Senior Server Side Developer

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Server Side Developer at Playdemic, and this role will be based in Wilmslow. 

As a Senior Server Side Developer, you will be part of a dedicated and dynamic team developing quality online mobile games.  Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with game designers and client developers to develop the server side component of the game.

You are a multi-discipline Server Side Developer with strong knowledge of the leading server side development tools, software and methodologies.  You must have experience of working in an agile development environment.

Core Skills & Experience

  • C#, ASP.net, MVC (Visual Studio 2015 and ReSharper)
  • Cloud development experience - noSQL, caching and scaling technologies, preferably on AWS or Azure
  • Experience of unit testing, BDD and different source control methodologies
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant commercial experience

Programming Apprentice

Tt Games, in partnership with Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Programming Apprentice to join our Programming team in Wilmslow.

This is a 12 month Apprenticeship Programme, whilst alongside training, will gain excellent practical hands-on experience, working within a highly talented and creative team, supporting the development of multiple AAA titles across a wide range of platforms from mobile to next-gen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement game design.
  • Take objects/characters and plug together to put into the game.
  • Learning Logic/Maths/AI.
  • Taking assets that have been created and implementing functionality of game design.

Personal Skills:

  • Demonstrably strong talent and passion for programming game-play.

Training Provided:

The Estio Training IT Apprenticship programme gives people the opportunity to get hands on experience in industry whilst still employed in a real paid job with no cost or debt.  Leaners will receive seven weeks of intensive training.  Whilst in the workplace, apprentices will also receive continual assessment, and help and guidance from a dedicated trainer who will be there to enusre that they get the most from their work experience.

Training will lead to industry recognised qualifications including:

Programmers - Game Mechanics

We’re looking for bright, talented & motivated people to join our Game Mechanics department on an 18 month contract basis. We have a variety of positions from front line development to lower level system work based at either our Knutsford or Wilmslow offices, both at senior and non senior programmer levels. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain some invaluable experience as we restructure our underlying game engine, whilst working on AAA game titles.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and understand the game design documents in order to define the required functionalities and the game system that must be developed.
  • Comply with all coding standards, ensuring the creation of high quality, performance-minded coded.
  • Maintenance of existing game mechanics.
  • Fixing issues on the Jira database as directed.
  • Liaising with Artists to provide assistance in the use of technology.
  • Document and clarify requests of Artists for new technology and improvements to existing technology.
  • Understand the concepts of the LED editor system that forms the basis of existing and future game mechanics.
  • Clarify the design of new game mechanics with Associate Lead / Head Programmer to ensure consistency.
  • Exploration of new practices to continually improve the quality of game development.
  • Provide time estimates for non-trivial Jira issues.
  • Implement gameplay for non-standard game mechanics and levels, including game bosses.
  • Document new systems on Wiki.
  • Produce and maintain editors based on the LED system.
  • Undertake relevant on-the-job training where required and keep up to date with industry advancements and technologies.
  • Mentoring Programmers and Junior Programmers with direction from Lead Programmer.
  • Advise leads on matters relating to ensuring that cross team systems address the needs of the end users.

Graphic Design and Interface Artist

We’re on the lookout for a Graphic Design and Interface Artist, a newly created role at Tt, to join us on an 18 month fixed term contract.  This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to help redesign our software user interfaces, and develop a new branding and visual language to be rolled out across the company.

Main responsibilities

  • Create a consistent brand for all Tt internal tools and editors.
  • Challenge and develop the look-and-feel of user interfaces across the studio.
  • Work closely with all creative departments to understand their workflows, and translate these into elegant and functional interface designs.
  • Deliver day-to-day UI orientated artwork at short notice, such as icons for buttons, colour swatches for UI elements and typography.
  • Assist with proofing of UI proposals from third parties, such as other internal teams.
  • Develop the graphic design for the company’s internal documentation, blogs and forums.

Essentials

  • An established Graphic Design portfolio, with emphasis on digital and web work.

Junior Render Tech Programmers - 18 month FTC

Junior VFX Artist - Fixed Term Contract

We are seeking to recruit a Junior VFX Artist on a initial fixed term contract.  This position is full time and will be based in the Art team at our Knutsford studio.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating visual effects for the game (levels and cutscenes) compliant with game design and vision.
  • Creation of effects using packages provided (Maya and Photoshop).
  • Creation of particles using 2D textures (Photoshop) and in-house editors (particle/LED).
  • Using Maya Fluid systems to create animating textures when required.
  • Creation of bespoke and generic scenery effects (smoke/fire etc).
  • Creation of bespoke character effects (shields/suits/hits/footsteps etc).
  • Placement of static effects in levels.
  • Creation of game specific VFX (explosions) placement generally by code.
  • Creation (sometimes placement) of cutscene specific VFX (explosions etc) placement generally by animation.
  • Working closely with environment artists on effects heavy levels to balance frame-rate.
  • Liaise with Construction Artists with regards to placing and triggering gameplay-specific VFX.
  • Ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions.
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline.
  • Attend regular reviews of work (and present all concept and ref if used).

Simulation Programmer

We're seeking a talented and enthusiastic programmer to join our Simulation team, who research and develop the novel and cross platform Physics, A.I., Vehicle, I.K and Animation technologies that will power the next wave of TT adventures. This role offers a rare and exciting opportunity to work on a variety of system while also focusing on a particular discipline of interest.

We are ideally looking for a mid-level programmer, however we will consider applications from strong junior programmers.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • A good degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics or related subject.
  • Demonstrably fluent in Object Oriented  C++ with strong debugging and documentation skills.
  • A passion for games and solving the technical problems they present.
  • Strong maths skills (linear algebra, trigonometry, 3d geometry, quaternions).

  • Knowledge and experience with either Vehicle simulation/ Physics engines / AI algorithms and middleware / Procedural Animation or IK systems.

Fixed Term QA Testers

TT Fusion, a division of Traveller’s Tales, are looking for QA Testers to join the QA team based at our Wilmslow studio. These are Fixed Term Contract roles with immediate starts, running until the 25th August 2017.

The ideal candidates should have:

  • A thorough knowledge of videogames across multiple platforms.
  • A good eye for detail.
  • Natural curiosity and an enthusiasm for finding bugs.
  • Be happy working individually or as part of a team.
  • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Shift work (including weekends) and overtime will be required.  The shift pattern is 2 weeks on the early shift, 07:00-15:30, and then 2 weeks on the late shift, 14:30-23:00 and 1 week on the night shift, 22:45-07:15.

Whilst previous experience or having a relevant degree is ideal, we are open to accepting applications from candidates with no previous experience/qualifications but they must be able to demonstrate a real passion and interest in gaming and have a natural curiosity to find bugs!

Environment Artists

We are currently looking to recruit a number of fixed term Environment Artists into the Art team based in Knutsford.

The main responsibilities consist of:

  • Responsible for creating in-game environments compliant with the game design, both technically and aesthetically.
  • Creating 3D models using packages provided (Maya, Z-Brush and Photoshop).
  • Creating and applying 2D textures – create and apply texture maps to the specification set by the Lead Artist.
  • Lighting environments – ability to apply good lighting principles to all artistic output.
  • Creating materials/shaders – Diff/Spec/Norm maps etc. and being responsible for the final look.
  • Setup of dynamic lighting, post effects and basic scene animation via in-house editors.
  • Ensuring work/level hits all memory and frame rate guides/restrictions – optimisations/LODs etc.
  • Understanding that changes and amendments are part of the pipeline.
  • Attend regular reviews of their work (and present all concept and ref used).
  • Constructively feedback any concerns of design impact on level/work.

Italian QA Localisation Tester

We are currently looking to recruit an Italian QA Localisation Tester to join our QA team in Maidenhead.  

Main Responsibilities:

•  Translation of in-game text from English to Italian using our in-house translation system.
•  Translation of platform specific compliance messages using strict terminology.
•  Testing of in-game text on multiple platforms and bug reporting as necessary.
•  Regression and confirmation of previously raised issues.
•  Audio verification of Italian voiceover and testing in-game. 
•  Analysis and implementation of feedback from external teams.
•  Translation of marketing text and assisting Production with any Italian queries. 

The successful applicant would have the following:

•  Excellent English to Italian translation ability.  A relevant qualification or experience in a similar translation/localisation role would be desired.
